Wedding Weekend in KY

Last weekend, Brent and I drove down to Campbellsville, KY for a wedding. One of Brent's gazillion cousins was getting married (okay, Brent doesn't really have a gazillion cousins, but it feels like it when compared to my 4 (yes, four!) cousins. It's all relative, I guess...

The weather was gorgeous...hot, but gorgeous! Instead of yapping about it, I'll just let the pictures tell the story. Overall, a great time was had by all!

Secret Pregnancy Oddities

There are some things that happen to your body when you're pregnant that I had never heard mentioned until I was pregnant. Some things I didn't know until I read a book, others I didn't know until I talked to my friends who have been pregnant.

Allow me to share with you some of these little pregnancy oddities:

1. Mucus and boogers - Seriously. I feel like i'm constantly blowing my nose to get the snot and boogers out, or sadly, sticking a digit up there. A girl's got to do what a girl's got to do. No juding.

2. Skin tags - Who knew? They pop up in random places. Luckily, they fall off after giving birth. I'm looking forward to several on my body going away. There's even one on my face!

3. Extra hair - I guess i have more hair. I don't notice the fullness as much, but I do notice the lack of hair that comes out in the shower. Plus, it does take a tad longer to dry. I like that I'm not shedding all over the place. Stay tuned to after pregnancy when it all falls out!

4. Longer and stronger nails - I find myself hitting the delete/backspace button a lot! Also, texting. I find myself doing the same thing when texting. Thridly, as I found out this morning, I'm having a hard time clasping necklaces! Unfortunately, Brent had already left for work so I was on my own. I spent what seemed like 10 minutes trying to get my darned necklace on that I gave up and ended up wearing a different necklace that my nails could handle. Note to self - cut nails soon!

5. Bleeding gums - not a lot, but just a little tint of red when you spit into the sink. With continued regular flossing and brushing, it goes away.

6. Clumsy hands - now, this one was a complete shock to me. With pregnancy, ligaments are looser in the body. And guess what? That means I get to say "oops" a lot. So if there are stains on my shirt, it's not from my mouth not catching the food, it's because my hands dropped the food in transit. I'm clumsy anyway, so sometimes, it's a nice excuse!

7. Growing feet - and it's permanent. I haven't experiecned it yet, but I keep waiting for my shoes to get tight. I don't know if I'll experience it as much since I'm not shoving my feet into boots or other cold weather shoes. Flip flops do allow for a lot of movement.

8. Bad eye sight - and dry eyes!

9. Leg cramps - I wake up almost at least once a night with a leg cramp. It's just a Charlie Horse that goes away when you flex your foot, but still.

Pregnancy is such an awesome, unique and yet, weird thing that goes on inside the body. Everyday I feel this little life move around inside of me and I can't help but think of what's to come!

22 weeks

Here we are, 22 weeks! 5 and a half months. Sounds crazy when you put it into months. I'm 5 and a half months pregnant! What's even a crazier thought? I've been pregnant for most of 2011.

And of course, what's a belly photo shoot without a picture with Lacey!

Kick! Kick!

Feeling that baby kick inside you is such an awesome, surreal and odd feeling all at the same time. Of course, being a first-timer, I've not known what to expect. What's it going to feel like? Was that a "flutter" or "gas bubbles"? I've been waiting to feel kicks from baby and often second guessing "was that a kick or just indigestion?". After our ultrasound last Monday, and I was laying on the couch relishing in the fact that the baby's identity was more solidified and I felt a few movements. I knew right then that those were kicks.

I then realized that I had been feeling kicks days earlier, I just didn't comprehend what was going on. I guess it took me sitting quietly to notice what was going on down below. Now that I've felt her kick officially, I feel her kick all throughout the day! Brent's hand has been on my belly constantly waiting for that moment that he can finally feel the movement that I've been feeling (for all of 10 days...officially).

We were at the movie theatre on Monday (who knew a movie theatre on a holiday weekend, on the actual holiday mind you, on a beautiful day at 2 o'clock in the afternoon would be packed, but it was...so I digress...) where we saw Bridesmaids (Hilarious movie! - I think I may have liked it better than Hangover 2...again, I digress). Anyway, baby was kicking and so naturally, I put my hand on my belly to feel it and I realized that I could feel it on my hand. Not just on the inside, but I could feel baby kick on the outside! That meant that Brent could possibly feel it! So, in the middle of the movie, I picked up Brent's hand to put it on my belly. He gave me a look like "what are you doing?? we're in the middle of a movie theatre...", but then, he felt baby kick! He looked at me and we had a little "moment" right there in the movie theatre on Memorial Day watching Bridesmaids.

Tear. That's one for the baby book.
