7 Month Photo Shoot

We had a family photo shoot in Alms Park in Cincinnati.  It was one of the first hot days and so that sped up our photo shoot a bit.  Abby did fabulous, as usual.  Her parents, however, got a little testy with the heat.  Despite the testiness and heat, the pictures turned out great!  These are just a few of my favorites...

Groovin' in Grove City

This past weekend we traveled up to Grove City, OH (just southwest of Columbus) to visit our friends, Bryan and Jen Bueter.  Bryan was Brent's best man and have been friends since childhood and Jen has been in the picture practically that long too.  They have 3 great kids, Audrey, Brayden and Jayson.  They all met Abby for the first time and Abby had a great time just watching all the action! 

Brent and Bryan along with all the kids had a fun time playing "nerf dart war" (that's what I'm calling it...I have NO idea what it's really called) while the ladies parked themselves in lawn chairs and enjoyed the company and action going on in the yard.  After Abby went to bed, we ate s'mores in their campfire and enjoyed hanging out!

Every time I've tried to try the sunglasses on Abby, we're inside and it's not sunny.  I put them on right before we went for a walk (and I had the camera ready for this photo op!) to see if Abby would keep them on.  She did well for about a block, then they were down by her chin. 

Got Milk?

First off, I need to acknowledge that I am very fortunate to be able to breastfeed my baby as not everyone has that ability.  Secondly, I also need to acknowledge that my breastfeeding ability has turned me into a cow.  At least, that's what my mom calls me.  :)

My darling husband thought the title of this post should have been "Half Woman, Half Heffer",  Love him...

We realized early on that our freezer was not going to suffice to hold the supply of milk that I was going to provide.  So, we are now the proud owner of a chest freezer.  My plan is to skip the formula phase and go straight from breastmilk to cow's milk.  That'll happen at a year old when Abby is allowed to have cow's milk.

There are 12 bins in the freezer with 18-22 bags of 5 ounce bags of milk in the freezer with some overflow.  By my calculations, that's approximately 1200 ounces of milk.  That gets me about 40 days of milk if I stop cold turkey today.  Crazy, isn't it?  You'd think that would've bought me until Abby goes to college.  Obviously, I'm not going to stop cold turkey, so as of yesterday, I'm begining the weaning process.  I don't think anyone is interested in the ins-and-outs of how I'm going to drop a pump blah, blah, blah...

Big Helper

While we were in Lima, Natalie was very excited to help feed Abby.  We even got the "I get to feed Abby" song.  The meal?  Bananas. 

However, I failed to give proper direction to Natalie prior to feeding Abby as Natalie shoveled overflowing spoonfuls of food in Abby's mouth.  Not that Abby minded, she loves bananas!  Regardless, I have to say, it was rather cute.

Park Fun

I know Abby has swung in a swing at daycare, but Brent and I have yet to swing with her.  So as far as I'm concerned, this was her first time swinging.  But, this was her first time swinging in a bucket swing!  So it is an actual first.  See?  I knew I'd find a loophole!

At first, I misjudged the size of the swing... "Uh, Daddy?  Mommy?  This swing is too big!  I can't see a thing unless I turn my head my head a certain way and squish it..."  In my defense, it looked much smaller from the parking lot through my car window. 

So we moved to a better swing fit for Abby.  Abby says "Aah, much better!  I can see!"  She loved the swing.  She looks like such a big girl holding on with both hands. 

Thanks Amy Palmer for the ladybug hat!  With such fair skin and a bald head, hats are a necessity!  So far she doesn't pull them off...even when the strap gets trapped in her mouth.
