30 weeks

I'm at 30 weeks folks! Can you believe it?! I could even say that this pregnancy is cruising by. I might say differently in the coming weeks when I'm thinking "Get this kid out of me!".

Please note that there is no Lacey photo this round. The pictures came out a bit too provocative/revealing for my liking. Sorry Lace, we'll get you at 32 weeks, I promise.

I'm still feeling great. All the normal pregnancy occurances, but I take it all in stride. Heartburn, emotional outbursts, grunting as you struggle to get up off the floor, difficulty bending over...you know, the usual.

Goodbye Brent!

On Saturday night I dropped Brent off so he could load a bus to travel down to NOLA (New Orleans Louisana) again this year with GBBC (Give Back Beyond Cincinnati) for the week. Last year, Brent and I went down together to NOLA and knew we'd want to do it again this year. However, a small bump (pardon the pun!) derailed my plans to do the same. We decided together that it was okay for Brent to go since I would "only" be 29 weeks pregnant and would be okay here at home.

As weeks approached, I began to feel apprehensive about Brent leaving. This will be the longest that he and I have been apart. And not only that, usually if we are going to be apart, it's usually ME going somewhere and leaving Brent to the regular day-to-day activities by himself. However, this time, not only am I being left with the regular day-to-day mundaneness alone, but he'll be gone for 8 days! Now add on top of that a hormonal pregant woman who's prone to burst into tears from time to time. Luckily, my parents are coming in to visit mid week to keep me company.

On my first morning by myself, Lacey and I woke up and went to the dog park to get some wiggles out before it got too hot. Lacey ran around with some other dogs for a short while, but then all she wanted to do was follow me and lay down. I guess it was getting too hot for her and she ran around a little too much, too fast. So after a quick trip there, I drove home with a tired puppy in tow. She's been mellow all day. Perhaps it's been because I wore her out at the dog park. Or perhaps it's because she misses Brent too.

Mojitos and Fajitas

The Bisher's had us over last weekend for 'Mojitos and Fajitas'. Steph had a huge collection of mint, so it only made sense to use it to make mojitos. And what food goes with mojitos? Fajitas of course! The pictures below don't really depict the theme of the party, but I couldn't help but make Ethan the focus when he went swimming. I love this first picture...Uncle Nick and Grandpa Bisher with Ethan. Uber cute. Ethan checking out the water in the pool.

Lacey loved running around in the backyard (our next house will definitely have a fenced in yard!). Lacey loves chasing (read: following) Senna around in the yard. It's quite funny to watch the follow the leader game. When Senna runs to a corner of the yard, Lacey is right behind him. She doesn't always know what Senna is running after or barking at, but Lacey sure does pretend to be just as interested.

28 weeks

I can't believe I'm 28 weeks along already! October 6 will be here before we know it. Still feeling good thanks to getting regular adjustments and massages.

Our nursery is still a work in progress, so no pictures yet. As soon as something is picture-worthy, I'll post it.

I love this picture with Lacey. If you look closely, you'll see some actual tongue action! I'd normally be grossed out when a dog's tongue made contact with me, but there's something that happens when it's your own dog and it doesn't make me want to cringe.

Wedding Weekend in KY

Last weekend, Brent and I drove down to Campbellsville, KY for a wedding. One of Brent's gazillion cousins was getting married (okay, Brent doesn't really have a gazillion cousins, but it feels like it when compared to my 4 (yes, four!) cousins. It's all relative, I guess...

The weather was gorgeous...hot, but gorgeous! Instead of yapping about it, I'll just let the pictures tell the story. Overall, a great time was had by all!

24 weeks

On Thursday June 16, I officially turned 24 weeks. We rushed out of the house Thursday morning that we didn't get a chance to snap a picture. So, this is a day later on June 17.

Secret Pregnancy Oddities

There are some things that happen to your body when you're pregnant that I had never heard mentioned until I was pregnant. Some things I didn't know until I read a book, others I didn't know until I talked to my friends who have been pregnant.

Allow me to share with you some of these little pregnancy oddities:

1. Mucus and boogers - Seriously. I feel like i'm constantly blowing my nose to get the snot and boogers out, or sadly, sticking a digit up there. A girl's got to do what a girl's got to do. No juding.

2. Skin tags - Who knew? They pop up in random places. Luckily, they fall off after giving birth. I'm looking forward to several on my body going away. There's even one on my face!

3. Extra hair - I guess i have more hair. I don't notice the fullness as much, but I do notice the lack of hair that comes out in the shower. Plus, it does take a tad longer to dry. I like that I'm not shedding all over the place. Stay tuned to after pregnancy when it all falls out!

4. Longer and stronger nails - I find myself hitting the delete/backspace button a lot! Also, texting. I find myself doing the same thing when texting. Thridly, as I found out this morning, I'm having a hard time clasping necklaces! Unfortunately, Brent had already left for work so I was on my own. I spent what seemed like 10 minutes trying to get my darned necklace on that I gave up and ended up wearing a different necklace that my nails could handle. Note to self - cut nails soon!

5. Bleeding gums - not a lot, but just a little tint of red when you spit into the sink. With continued regular flossing and brushing, it goes away.

6. Clumsy hands - now, this one was a complete shock to me. With pregnancy, ligaments are looser in the body. And guess what? That means I get to say "oops" a lot. So if there are stains on my shirt, it's not from my mouth not catching the food, it's because my hands dropped the food in transit. I'm clumsy anyway, so sometimes, it's a nice excuse!

7. Growing feet - and it's permanent. I haven't experiecned it yet, but I keep waiting for my shoes to get tight. I don't know if I'll experience it as much since I'm not shoving my feet into boots or other cold weather shoes. Flip flops do allow for a lot of movement.

8. Bad eye sight - and dry eyes!

9. Leg cramps - I wake up almost at least once a night with a leg cramp. It's just a Charlie Horse that goes away when you flex your foot, but still.

Pregnancy is such an awesome, unique and yet, weird thing that goes on inside the body. Everyday I feel this little life move around inside of me and I can't help but think of what's to come!

22 weeks

Here we are, 22 weeks! 5 and a half months. Sounds crazy when you put it into months. I'm 5 and a half months pregnant! What's even a crazier thought? I've been pregnant for most of 2011.

And of course, what's a belly photo shoot without a picture with Lacey!

Kick! Kick!

Feeling that baby kick inside you is such an awesome, surreal and odd feeling all at the same time. Of course, being a first-timer, I've not known what to expect. What's it going to feel like? Was that a "flutter" or "gas bubbles"? I've been waiting to feel kicks from baby and often second guessing "was that a kick or just indigestion?". After our ultrasound last Monday, and I was laying on the couch relishing in the fact that the baby's identity was more solidified and I felt a few movements. I knew right then that those were kicks.

I then realized that I had been feeling kicks days earlier, I just didn't comprehend what was going on. I guess it took me sitting quietly to notice what was going on down below. Now that I've felt her kick officially, I feel her kick all throughout the day! Brent's hand has been on my belly constantly waiting for that moment that he can finally feel the movement that I've been feeling (for all of 10 days...officially).

We were at the movie theatre on Monday (who knew a movie theatre on a holiday weekend, on the actual holiday mind you, on a beautiful day at 2 o'clock in the afternoon would be packed, but it was...so I digress...) where we saw Bridesmaids (Hilarious movie! - I think I may have liked it better than Hangover 2...again, I digress). Anyway, baby was kicking and so naturally, I put my hand on my belly to feel it and I realized that I could feel it on my hand. Not just on the inside, but I could feel baby kick on the outside! That meant that Brent could possibly feel it! So, in the middle of the movie, I picked up Brent's hand to put it on my belly. He gave me a look like "what are you doing?? we're in the middle of a movie theatre...", but then, he felt baby kick! He looked at me and we had a little "moment" right there in the movie theatre on Memorial Day watching Bridesmaids.

Tear. That's one for the baby book.
